Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Table of Contents
Homemade Peanut Butter Cups are a budget friendly way to enjoy your favorite chocolate and peanut butter sweet treats at home. Creamy and delicious, they are filled with peanut butter, two secret ingredients, and covered in chocolate. This recipe is kid friendly and mom approved!
If you have an peanut allergic child at home we have the best solution for you! Use Wowbutter in place of the peanut butter called for in this recipe. It tastes amazing and your friends and family won't even know the difference. I promise!
This easy dessert recipe is perfect for holidays, birthday parties, baby showers, or anytime you want a sweet and delicious cookie recipe to eat.
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU NEED TO MAKE HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS
You’ll be surprised to see just how basic and easy this recipe is. It uses a two secret ingredients – salt and powered sugar that turns these peanut butter cups into something absolutely spectacular!
I promise you won’t be disappointed with copycat Reese's Peanut Butter Cup recipe.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
- individual paper candy liners, 1-inch in size
- peanut butter, * or use a peanut butter alternative like Wowbutter if you have a peanut allergic child
- powdered sugar
- salt
- butter
- Hershey's milk chocolate chips
- coconut oil

INGREDIENT SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS
PEANUT BUTTER: You can easily swap it out with Wowbutter if you are serving this to school aged children. In all of our testing, Wowbutter tastes the closest to regular peanut butter in blind taste tests here at home with our kids.
COCONUT OIL: I know not everyone has coconut oil on hand and that's okay. You can easily swap out the coconut oil for butter flavored shortening, or even vegetable oil if needed.

HOW TO MAKE THESE HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS
FIRST STEP: Place mini paper liners on a baking sheet.
SECOND STEP: Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds. Stir together and repeat microwaving at 15 second intervals, stirring in-between each round until the chocolate is completely melted.
THIRD STEP: In a separate bowl combine peanut butter, powdered sugar, butter and table salt. Mix until no lumps remain and mixture is well incorporated.
FOURTH STEP: Spoon about 1 - 1 ½ teaspoon of melted morsels into each cup making sure to cover the sides of the cup about half way up the paper liner. Roll peanut butter into small balls. Squish them between your palms to flatten them a bit and then place on top of melted chocolate in paper cups.
FIFTH STEP: Top each with an additional 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate. Place in the freezer for 20 minutes, or refrigerate until firm.

These look absolutely AMAZING! I'm crazy about peanut butter and chocolate - but in the UK it's not very common to find (and when you do find things like Reese's they're so expensive!) Going to make some of these for my birthday party 🙂

In the past when I have dipped things in chocolate I have had a hard time with over meltiness, do you have any suggestion for that?
