These easy apple dumplings combine warm, spiced apples with a buttery, flaky crust for the perfect homemade dessert. Ready in under an hour, they’re an irresistible treat for any occasion!
Peel, core, and dice apples. Place the diced apples in a medium bowl with water and lemon juice to prevent browning of the apples.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish and set aside.
Drain the apples from the water and place them back in the bowl. In a small separate bowl combine ½ tablespoon cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix together and then sprinkle over the apples and stir to coat all sides of the diced apples.
Roll out crescent rolls into individual triangles. Place 3 tablespoons of apples on each triangle. Roll the crescent roll triangle and seal the edges together to make dumplings.
Place the rolled crescent rolls in the baking dish. Set aside.
In a medium bowl combine melted butter, brown sugar, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and apple pie spice. Whisk to combine.
Pour butter mixture over the tops of the dumplings. Pour the Sprite around the edges of the dumplings.
Place in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
Notes
An apple corer and apple slicer are invaluable tools when you are making apple desserts.
Make sure you are very precise with the amount of soda you use. If you use too much, there’s a chance you will end up with soggy bottoms on your apple dumplings. Or worse, they don’t cook properly. So be careful to use just the right amount.
