72.5ouncescut green beansdrained (five 14.5 ounce cans)
¾cupbrown sugarpacked
⅓cupsalted buttermelted
¼cuplow-sodium soy sauce
2teaspoonsgarlic powder
2teaspoonsonion powder
1teaspoonfresh cracked black pepper
16ouncessmoked baconcooked and crumbled (454-gram package)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Evenly spread the drained cut green beans in the bottom of the sprayed baking dish.
Add the brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and cracked black pepper to a small mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
Evenly pour the brown sugar mixture over the green bean layer.
Sprinkle the cooked and crumbled bacon over the top of the green beans. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
Notes
For extra convenience, cook the bacon in advance and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to crumble it over the green beans. This saves time on the day of cooking.
You can cook the smothered green beans in the crock pot. Cook on high for two hours or on low for four hours.
