The Best Crockpot Dinner Recipes
I love my crockpot. I love my crockpot so much that my husband may be slightly jealous.
I'm not sure who invented the crockpot, but I know for a fact they have made millions of people's lives a million times easier!
My favorite part about making a Crockpot Dinner is that I get a satisfying meal with minimal effort. It is so easy to find recipes that my entire family will love no matter their age!
1. Slow Cooker Coca Cola Chicken
Slow Cooker Coca Cola Chicken
Ingredients
- 6 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless (fresh or frozen))
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons onion flakes (minced)
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 ½ cup barbecue sauce (divided)
- 12 ounces Coca-Cola (divided)
DIRECTIONS
- Spread the chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart crockpot.
- Sprinkle the pepper, minced onion flakes, and garlic salt over the chicken. Pour ½ cup of the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
- Pour 1 cup Coca-Cola into the slow cooker.
- Cover and set on a high setting for 4 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours.
- After the chicken has cooked for about 3 hours on high (or 5 hours on low), drain all liquid from the slow cooker, leaving the chicken in the pot. Add the remaining ½ cup of Coca-Cola and the remaining 1 cup of barbecue sauce to the slow cooker. Continue cooking for the remaining hour.
- Serve whole with sauce spooned over the top or shred chicken and mix with excess sauce.

2. Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork

Ingredients
- 1 medium-size sweet yellow onion (sliced thin 1 ½ cups)
- 4 to 5 pounds pork butt or pork shoulder
- 12 ounces Dr Pepper (1 ½ cups)
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon garlic fresh (minced)
- ¼ cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
- hamburger buns (or deli rolls)
- 15 ounces coleslaw (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Line a 6 to 7 quart slow cooker with aluminum foil or a crock pot liner.
- Evenly layer the thinly sliced onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the pork on top of the onions then pour the Dr Pepper over the pork.
- In a small mixing bowl add the liquid smoke, honey, and minced garlic. Stir to combine the ingredients. Use a basting brush to evenly brush the smoke sauce onto the pork.
- In a small mixing bowl combine the brown sugar, onion powder, kosher salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cumin.
- Evenly sprinkle the dry seasoning on top of the pork.
- Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.
- When the pork has finished cooking, either leave the pork in the crockpot or transfer the meat to a large baking dish. Carefully use 2 forks or a set of tongs to shred the pork.
- Pour the BBQ sauce over the top of the shredded pork. Then use tongs to toss the pork and sauce.
- Serve on either hamburger buns or deli rolls, and coleslaw.

3. Mississippi Pot Roast

Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 pounds beef chuck roast (boneless)
- 1 tablespoon onion flakes (minced)
- 1 packet Ranch seasoning mix
- 1 packet Au Jus seasoning
- 10 whole pepperoncini
DIRECTIONS
- Heat 1 to 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Lightly salt and pepper each side of the pot roast (see note about salt). Add the meat to the skillet and sear each side of the roast until browned.
- Transfer the browned roast to the crockpot and pour all the excess butter and browned bits from the skillet into the crockpot.
- Sprinkle minced onions over the meat.
- Add contents of ranch seasoning and au jus packets.
- Top with remaining butter, cut into pieces. Add pepperoncini to the pot and place the lid on top.
- Cook on low heat for 8 hours or until meat falls apart easily when pulled with a fork.
- Shred the meat into large chunks and stir everything together.

Notes
- If your beef is frozen, make sure to thaw the frozen roast first or it won’t cook correctly in the slow cooker.
- Be aware of the salt content you’re adding to the slow cooker. If you want to use salted butter, don’t add salt to the meat before browning it. Choose low sodium options for the ranch seasoning and/or au jus packets if available to have more control over the salt level in the finished dish.
- You can skip the step of browning the pot roast before adding it to the slow cooker. The browning step adds additional flavor and also helps lock in the juices.
- This is cooked slowly and on low heat for a nice tender pot roast. Cooking it on the high setting will take less time, but the pot roast will not be as tender.
