Holiday Oreo Cookie Balls
I love this time of year when I can totally get away with making all sorts of holiday treats for our friends and family! I'm always trying to think of new things to make and take to our holiday parties and every time I keep coming back to this simple OREO Cookie Ball Recipe.
These are so easy and they turn out delicious every time we make it! Without fail when I take them to a party the whole batch gets eaten which makes me happy!
HOW DO YOU MAKE HOLIDAY OREO COOKIE BALLS
This year I decided that I wanted to make a double chocolate Holiday OREO Cookie Ball. Why? Because I LOVE chocolate!
I wanted my holiday treat to taste fabulous and look pretty too so I used both milk chocolate and white chocolate on these treats.
INGREDIENTS (PRINTABLE VERSION BELOW)
- 1 Package Cream Cheese -- 8 oz softened
- 36 Oreo Cookies - crushed
- 4 packages of 4 oz baking chocolate - melted
- Holiday Sprinkles4
DIRECTIONS (PRINTABLE VERSION BELOW)
-
MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
-
SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
-
CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
-
REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
While I was at Walmart I picked up the following ingredients: 2 packages of Double Stuffed OREO Cookies, 1 8-oz package of cream cheese, white chocolate & milk chocolate, gallon sized plastic bags and holiday sprinkles.
TIPS AND TRICKS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE QUICK AND EASY
If you don't have gallon sized plastic bags that ok. I've made these in smaller batches and just used my rolling pin to crush them 10 or so at a time. Just dump them in a large mixing bowl when they're done and crush the next batch.
I also make sure my cream cheese is room temperature so it's easier to mix into the crushed OREO Cookies.
You can get really creative with food coloring in the chocolate if you have it on hand. My 2 yr old was helping mama with this batch so I didn't dare let him in the food coloring.
I could just see my counters permanently stained in shades of green and red!
I like to keep these in the fridge until I'm ready to eat them or take them to a party. I just think they're extra good when they're cold!

Ty for recipe sounds great

I make these. I used cream cheese frosting and it works fine for me. Also I used the chocolate bark that's in the baking aisle. It works great for coating the oreo balls.
Shauna says
Hi Katherine,
I'm glad that worked out for you! I definitely like the idea of using the chocolate bark if you can find the right kind! Thanks for sharing this feedback!
Brandi Simmons says
Can u just make these without the white choc? Like crush the oreos, mix with cream cheese the refrigerator?
Shauna says
Hi Brandi! Of course that would work too!! If you end up making them without the chocolate let me know how they turn out and how you liked them. My readers would love to know.

I tried to melt chocolate morsels but it came out very thick not liquidy. How do you liquify chocolate morsels to use for this Oreo balls recipe?
Layne Henderson says
Hi, Rosario - I've added some coconut oil to my chocolate before to help with consistency... that should probably help! Enjoy 🙂
Debra says
Does the Chocolate set easily? DO YOU NEED parafan wax?
Shauna says
Yes, the chocolate does set easily, and NO you do not need parafan wax. You could use parchment paper in it's place.
Brooke Juliar says
I am making these the night before and then dipping them in chocolate the next day. Do I still need to freeze them for 10 min?
Cathye says
Is "baking chocolate" the same as chocolate chips?
The Best Blog Recipes says
No, but they are near each other in the baking aisle at the grocery store!
Alva Starr (@A_Fools_Tale) says
What do I do with the white part of the Oreos?
Shauna | The Best Blog Recipes says
You just crush it up with the cookie!! Easy peasy!
Charlotte says
Can you use cream cheese frosting instead of cream cheese?
Shauna | The Best Blog Recipes says
I would definitely stick with just using cream cheese. Frosting is not as thick and creamy so it wouldn't act as a good glue to hold all the cookies together. And frosting is much more sweet! But if you are in a pinch, you can always try and let me know how it turns out...
Betty says
You was saying you got white chocolate but it's not in the ingredients
Do u have to keep them refrigerated
Shauna | The Best Blog Recipes says
Hi Betty, you can use any kind of chocolate that you want in this recipe. I just listed the amount of chocolate that you'll need so you can pick your own. I did keep them refrigerated. Since they have cream cheese in them I think they need to stay that way 🙂
Rebecca @ Hello Creative Blog says
Look at all the Oreos...yummy (and I honestly never realized how many different kinds of Oreos there actually are).
Shauna | The Best Blog Recipes says
I know, right! I haven't even tried half of them, lol!
