WHAT’S THE BEST THING TO COOK IN A SLOW COOKER
When it comes to choosing a cut of meat to put in your Crock Pot you really can’t go wrong. I’ve never come across a piece of meat that didn’t turn out perfectly in the slow cooker.
Chicken perfectly shreds after a nice long cook. Sauces turn into something amazing.
Flavors come together to wow your taste-buds when you sit down to the dinner table.
My personal favorites are:
- Chuck Roast
- Chicken Breasts
- Pork Roast
- Ground Beef for chili
CAN YOU PUT RAW MEAT IN THE SLOW COOKER
The answer is YES, you can definitely put raw meat into your crock pot for perfect make-ahead beef dinners. Depending on the cut of meat and what the recipe calls for, you may want to brown your piece of meat on two sides before adding to the crock pot.
In my 20+ years cooking with my slow cooker I’ve only recently begun to brown my meat so it’s really up to you. Ask yourself if it will really make a huge difference in the flavor of the dish. Or will it make a huge difference in the consistency of the meat.
If both answers are no then go ahead and throw your meat and ingredients in. Put the lid on and set the temperature.
These really are easy dump and go slower cooker recipes.
SUNDAY CROCKPOT DINNER
Whether you need crockpot recipes for two, or you need to feed your hungry family for Sunday Dinner you’re in luck. Slow cookers allow you to easily adjust the size of meat you want to cook.
If you make too much food you could use the leftovers to make sandwiches, burritos, or an easy tortilla wrap the next day.
Want to make a second dinner out of leftovers? Try white rice or mashed potatoes. They go perfectly with most of these recipes.
SUPER EASY SLOW COOKER RECIPES
Wondering how you could get dinner on the table with even less work?
Here are a few suggestions when you are in a hurry:
- Try baby carrots in place of whole carrots that you have to peel and chop
- You could leave the skin on your potatoes instead of peeling them
- Add dry minced onions instead of chopping a whole onion if you are short on time
- Use dried herbs instead of fresh herbs that you’d need to wash and chop
- Get pre-washed and chopped broccoli in a bag instead of crowns that you would want to soak in a vinegar wash before prepping
