Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Ingredients
- Mayo

- Medium shrimp
- Olive oil
- Garlic
- Smoked paprika
- Kosher salt
- Black pepper
- Red pepper flakes
- Parsley or cilantro
Shrimp size correlates to the number of shrimp you get per pound. For medium shrimp, like for this recipe, you should get 30 shrimp per pound. Remember the key to cooking shrimp is to not overcook them. They cook quickly, so keep your eye on them.
You can use either fresh or frozen shrimp. If you use frozen shrimp you’ll need to thaw the shrimp before cooking. To thaw your shrimp simply place them in a bowl of cold water for about 20 minutes.
Long noodles work the best for this recipe. If you want you could substitute linguine or angel hair pasta for the spaghetti. No matter which kind of pasta you choose, you’ll want to cook it al dente. The pasta will be tender but will still have a slightly firm texture when you bite into it.
How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta
FIRST STEP: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the mayo, sweet chili sauce, lime juice, and sriracha sauce until it is smooth. Set it aside.
SECOND STEP: Using a medium-size mixing bowl, toss together the shrimp, ½ tablespoon olive oil, fresh minced garlic, paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
THIRD STEP: In a large 12-inch skillet, over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
FOURTH STEP: Add in the coated shrimp, constantly stirring to ensure the garlic does not burn and the shrimp cooks evenly, about 8 - 10 minutes. The shrimp will turn pink when completely cooked. There will also be liquid in the pan that the shrimp releases during cooking. Turn off the stovetop.
FIFTH STEP: Leaving the skillet on the stovetop, add the cooked spaghetti and sauce on top of the cooked shrimp. Toss to completely coat the noodles and the shrimp. Garnish with either the fresh chopped parsley or fresh chopped cilantro. Serve while hot.
Cooking Tips
If you’re not a fan of shrimp you could swap in scallops instead.
Instead of mayonnaise, you can substitute plain Greek yogurt, cream cheese, heavy cream, or even sour cream.
Try to buy the deveined shrimp. Sometimes you can also find peeled shrimp. Both of these will make prep easier.
