What I love about this chili mac for dinner is that it's so easy to make. With kids in school, 3 dogs, and a cat I don't have a ton of time to spend in the kitchen during the week.

What Ingredients are in Chili Mac
Here's what you'll need to get started:
- ground beef or turkey
- small yellow onion
- Diced Tomatoes
- Tomato Sauce
- Tomato Paste
- water
- kidney beans
- chili powder
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- cumin
- paprika
- salt
- white pepper
- elbow macaroni
- shredded sharp cheddar
- baking soda
How to Make One Pot Chili Mac and Cheese
FIRST STEP: In a large dutch oven, saute diced onions until translucent and they start to caramelize.
SECOND STEP: Add ground meat and brown until just done. It’s okay if it still has some pink in it before you add the rest of the ingredients.
THIRD STEP: Add seasonings (minus the baking soda) and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
FOURTH STEP: Pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, water and tomato paste.
FIFTH STEP: Bring to a simmer over medium low heat and cook for about 10 minutes.
SIXTH STEP: Stir in the baking soda. The sauce will start to bubble up. Stir over medium heat until the bubbles have gone away.
SEVENTH STEP: Stir in beans and pasta. Simmer until macaroni is al dente. Remove from heat and sprinkle cheese on top and let it melt. Stir and serve.
EIGHTH STEP: Top these Easy Chili Mac and Cheese bowls with more cheese and serve!

- 5 15 ounce cans water
- 1 15 ounce can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp paprika
- ½ tbsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 3 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 tsp baking soda

This sounds delish. Trying to make it right now, but why the baking soda and 5 15 ounce cans water? Assuming the water is a typo.

Yes that is actually correct! The pasta soaks up a lot of water and some also boils off. Just make sure you use a large pot when making this recipe!
