Coca Cola Drumsticks Ingredients
- Chicken drumsticks - approximately 8-9 drumsticks
- Coca-Cola - cans of Coca-Cola
- Onion - finely diced sweet yellow onion
- Oil - vegetable oil, divided
- Soy sauce
- Sugar - light brown sugar, packed
- Garlic - minced fresh garlic
- Ginger - fresh grated ginger
- Pepper - black pepper
- Salt - kosher salt
Coca-Cola and chicken may not seem like an obvious combination, but using the soda as a marinade not only helps to tenderize the chicken but gives it a flavor that is both unexpected and delicious. If you like Coke as a drink, you will certainly enjoy it in this dish.
Don’t feel like you have to limit yourself to just chicken drumsticks, you can also turn this recipe into Coca-Cola chicken wings or thighs. Cooking times may be slightly different for different pieces of chicken, so it’s always best to check that the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
If you’d like a slightly thicker sauce for your chicken, once the chicken is cooked thoroughly you can remove it from the pan and set it aside. Bring the sauce to a boil while you combine ⅓ cup water and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Slowly add the water and cornstarch mixture into the sauce and whisk together until it reaches the desired consistency.
