Salisbury Steak Meatballs Ingredients
- Ground beef - lean ground beef
- Bread crumbs - plain panko bread crumbs
- Onion - sweet yellow onion
- Egg - large egg
- Worcestershire sauce
- Ketchup
- Mustard - Dijon mustard
- Garlic - fresh minced garlic
- Onion powder
- Salt - kosher salt
- Pepper - fresh cracked black pepper
- Olive oil - extra virgin olive oil, for frying the meatballs
- Brown gravy mix
- Mushroom - mushroom pieces and stems, drained
- Water
- Kitchen Bouquet seasoning sauce - optional
If you choose to mix the meat with your bare hands, we recommend using disposable gloves. That way, it’s less messy and you reduce the risk of cross-contamination. You might also consider having a dedicated scoop for meatballs. Be sure to clearly mark the scoop for anyone to recognize.
If the mushroom pieces are too large, you can cut them in half into smaller pieces. You could also chop fresh mushrooms, such as white button mushrooms or baby portobello mushrooms.
You can substitute stone-ground mustard for the Dijon or plain prepared mustard in the meat mixture. Whichever you have on hand will work for these Salisbury meatballs. If you want a rich brown color to your gravy, you can add 1 teaspoon of Kitchen Bouquet to darken it. While optional, it adds a little something extra to your gravy if you have it on hand.
How to Make Salisbury Steak Meatballs

THIRD STEP: Measure out 1½ tablespoon scoops of the meat mixture. Form into round balls.
FOURTH STEP: Add the extra virgin olive oil to a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. If you use a 10-inch skillet, you will need to cook the meatballs in batches.
