- The best knife to use when cutting angel food cake is one with a serrated blade, it will cut the cake easier, and you won’t lose the airy, fluffy texture of the cake.
- You can allow the cake to chill in the fridge for as little as 5 hours, but 8 hours to overnight lets the layers of angel food cake absorb all the pudding mixture and pie filling.

Can you use cheesecake flavored pudding mix instead of vanilla? I had a similar cake like this from Sam’s Club one time and the pudding mixture was more of a cheesecake flavor.
Amy T says
Yes! You should be able to make that switch as long as the pudding boxes are the same size. And that sounds delicious! Let us know if you try it!

You can use these exact same steps to make a black forest cake!... The only exception is to swap out the strawberry pie filling for CHERRY pie filling and instead of angle food cake use cubes of a deliciously moist chocolate cake I prefer devil's chocolate cake!.... It is amazing 🤩

This is a great easy recipe. My only adjustment is to try it in a larger container next time as it was overflowing my 9” x 9” pan. I look forward to trying it using another flavor pie filling.
