- Angel food cake - Premade angel food cake, or a boxed angel food cake mix prepared according to box directions
- Pie filling - can strawberry pie filling
- Pudding - box vanilla instant pudding mix
- Milk - whole milk
- Sour cream
- Whipped topping - thawed
Strawberry pie filling isn’t the only lip-smacking option for this delicious cake. Try blueberry, raspberry, apple, peach, or lemon pie fillings for this recipe.
While you’re trying different fruit flavors, you can also try different cake options. Swap out the angel food cake for pound cake, vanilla sponge cake, or chocolate cake.

How to Make Strawberry Heaven on Earth Cake
FIRST STEP: Lightly spray a 9x9 glass baking dish with cooking spray. Set it aside.
SECOND STEP: Layer half of the cubed angel food cake in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
THIRD STEP: Evenly spread ⅔ ‘s of the strawberry pie filling on top of the cubed angel food cake.
FOURTH STEP: Layer the remaining angel food cake cubes on top of the strawberry pie filling.
FIFTH STEP: Using a medium-size mixing bowl, whisk together the cold milk and the sour cream until the mixture is well incorporated and no lumps are visible.
SIXTH STEP: Whisk in the instant pudding mix and continue whisking until the mixture is smooth and just beginning to thicken.
SEVENTH STEP: Evenly spread the milk mixture over the top of the angel food cake cubes.
EIGHTH STEP: Using an offset spatula, evenly spread the thawed whipped topping.
NINTH STEP: Spoon the remaining strawberry pie filling in dollops across the whipped topping. Using a butter knife, gently swirl the pie filling.
TENTH STEP: Cover tightly and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight. Keep the cake in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

This looks delicious…is it gluten free? I think angel food cake, vanilla pudding and cool whip are all gluten free.

You can use these exact same steps to make a black forest cake!... The only exception is to swap out the strawberry pie filling for CHERRY pie filling and instead of angle food cake use cubes of a deliciously moist chocolate cake I prefer devil's chocolate cake!.... It is amazing 🤩

So I had a pkg. of Dream Drops fresh strawberries. I added sliced fresh strawberries with evey layer. Also on top I arranged sliced berries more for looks , but heck they taste great also. This recipe is very good without adding fresh berries.
