Wendy’s Frosty
This yummy copycat Wendy’s Frosty is thick, cold, and creamy. Kids and adults won’t be able to resist this cool treat with the rich consistency and chocolatey taste you love.
Homemade Wendy’s Frosty makes a sweet dessert or an afternoon treat, and it’s super easy to make at home. Enjoy it with homemade burgers and fries to complete the fast-food experience.
The next time you crave a thick Wendy’s Frosty make it at home with chocolate milk, vanilla, Cool Whip, and condensed milk. No ice cream maker is needed to create the rich consistency you crave, just a whisk and your freezer.
Wendy’s Frosty Ingredients
- Condensed milk
- Cool Whip
- Milk - 1% chocolate milk
- Vanilla extract
The mixture will expand a bit as it freezes, so make sure you don’t fill the container to the very top. If you don’t have a freezer-safe container large enough to hold all of the frosty mixture you can divide it up into 2 or 3 smaller batches to put in the freezer. Keep in mind that if you freeze the frosty mixture in smaller batches the freeze time will be slightly shorter. While you don’t need an ice cream maker, if you have one you can use that instead of putting the frosty mixture into the freezer.
Instead of using Cool Whip, you can also whip some cream until it is medium-to-firm. Use a 1:1 ratio when swapping homemade whipped cream for the Cool Whip. In addition to Cool Whip in your Frosty, you can also serve your Frosty with a topping of whipped cream or hot fudge sauce.
Homemade Frosty’s are not only a fun dessert to enjoy yourself, but also to make for friends at a party or get together. You could even make a grown-up Frosty by adding an ounce of bourbon, whiskey, or vodka.
How to Make Wendy’s Frosty

Can I use almond chocolate milk?
In addition to regular 1% chocolate milk, chocolate almond milk will also work in this recipe.
Can I make a vanilla Frosty?
You can make a creamy vanilla Frosty, or even a strawberry Frosty, by replacing the chocolate milk with plain milk or strawberry milk respectively.
What is the secret ingredient in this copycat Frosty recipe?
The secret key ingredient is vanilla extract which alters the flavor of the chocolate to give it a malt-like taste.
How to Store Wendy’s Frosty
IN THE FREEZER: This tasty treat has to stay frozen. Copycat Wendy’s Frosty can be kept in a covered freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. Allow it to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to thaw so it becomes the desired consistency before stirring and serving.
