Orange Creamsicle Truffles Ingredients
- Chocolate chips - white chocolate chips
- Butter - unsalted butter
- Orange zest
- Whipping cream - heavy whipping cream
- Orange extract
- Vanilla extract
- Food coloring - orange food coloring
- Sugar - powdered sugar
These delicious homemade Orange Creamsicle Truffles are not only super easy to make, but also easily customizable. Instead of coating the truffle ball in powdered sugar, you can dip them in melted chocolate. Is orange not the flavor you’re craving? Try lemon extract and lemon zest for a burst of citric taste! Or experiment with other extracts to create your very own creamsicle truffle!
If you want a softer dough that’s easier to scoop and roll, refrigerate the mix for only 30 minutes. It will then need to be refrigerated again for the formed truffles to harden. The longer you refrigerate the dough before forming the truffles, the harder they will be to scoop, but then you won’t have to wait as long to serve them.
Want to make this an adults-only dessert? Add some orange liqueur instead of the orange extract! It’s sure to be a hit at your next girls' night!
How to Make Orange Creamsicle Truffles
FIRST STEP: Add the white chocolate chips to a medium bowl and set aside.
SECOND STEP: In a small saucepan, melt the butter and orange zest together. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
THIRD STEP: As soon as the mixture comes to a simmer, pour through a sieve into the white chocolate chips to strain out the orange zest. Allow the mixture to sit for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the chocolate.

FOURTH STEP: Add the extracts and food coloring and whisk the mixture until smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated. The mixture may initially separate from the butter, but continue whisking/stirring and it will incorporate.
FIFTH STEP: If needed, heat the mixture for 15 seconds at a time in the microwave if the chocolate has not melted all the way.
SIXTH STEP: Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
SEVENTH STEP: Scoop 1 to 1½ tablespoons of the truffle mixture and form into balls, then roll the balls in the powdered sugar.
EIGHTH STEP: Refrigerate the truffles for another 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving.
Can you coat the truffles in chocolate instead of powdered sugar?
Absolutely! To coat the truffles in chocolate, first, roll the truffles into balls and freeze them. Then coat them in melted chocolate.
What do I do if my chocolate separates?
The mixture may separate from the butter and form a thin layer on top of the truffle mixture. If you continue to whisk/stir, it will all incorporate back together. To keep this from happening, make sure that you’re using a good quality white chocolate and that you continuously stir the mixture, making sure that it is smooth.
Can I freeze these orange truffles?
